happy 2007 January 1, 2007
This year has seen many important events in the Klein household. A brief recap:
* Bassie learned to add negative numbers.
* Dina realized that it’s her life’s vocation to be a prima ballerina.
* Yosef started on the path to soul-sucking riches.
* Rachel began and completed her course of study at Chicago’s historical (if 25 years counts as history) iO theatre (formerly known as “improv Olympic”; damn the I.O.C.). If you want to see her show how little she’s learned, come on down to Wrigleyville Sunday nights in January and February at 9 PM.
Well, those are some highlights, and a shameless plug. Hope your new year brings all of your dreams closer…
bassie also learned to subtract negative numbers. i just thought they should be mentioned together.
Well, subtraction is really just a function of addition; I was trying to be elegant.
And by the way, Matt, Bassie says that when solving addition problems with negative numbers, she figures out the difference in the absolute values of the numbers, then adds a “negative”. See, math “tricks” are a priori…
Although, when asked about the positive and negative integers’ placement on an imaginary number line on a sidewalk crack, she showed me perfectly, including zero.
by “brings all your dreams closer”, do you mean to reality, or to each other, far off in the distance?
