fear of flying (bugs) September 19, 2006
Any suggestions for how to get Bassie over her fear of all flying bugs? And I mean all: bees (understandable), flies (pushing it), knats (she doesn’t even know about the silent “k” yet, how can she fear it?)
All suggestions should be accompanied by a diagnosis of the root cause for which this is a secondary symptom, action plan, and prognosis.
I pay only for results.

secondary symptom of the fact that bugs are scary. action plan is pick up a used aquarium and make it an insect-arium. prognosis is that she’ll not be afraid of them anymore.
you can spell gnat with a k too?!?!? the things i learn from this blog
i say buy her the game ants in the pants…while it may freak her out and then never want to wear pants, i’m sure dina and i could play it for hours.
for a girl, the only thing worse than being afraid of bugs is being a bug-nerd. no insect-ariums in this house!
Yeah, uh, I meant silent “g”. Maybe that was the problem!
Yosef looke dup some articles on flies and spiders last night and conducted a little lesson with Bassie. She learned that flies actually eat “g”nats, so now she’s okay with that. Thanks for all your ideas.
you’re confused. for a boy, the only thing worse than being afraid of bugs is being a bug-nerd. girl bug-nerds rock. if that’s sexist, well… hier stehe ich, ich kann nicht anders.
i agree with matt. bug-nerds of the girl persuasion are freaking awesome. i wish i was one.
yeah, but does Patrick wish you were one?
“Girl bug-nerds ARE cool, but I like you the way you are.”
-Patrick
exactly.
you can’t just say ‘exactly’ and thereby posture that the evidence she brought forward supports your claim. it doesn’t… to the contrary, it supports our claim that girl bug-nerds are cool. if mikey would weigh in on the subject, you’d probably be down 4 to 1… mikey?
